Logo and Seal
Our logo is a scholastic seal along with our company name ‘Influence Ecology’. Joanna Burgraf, one of a handful of our first students and long-time member, designed the seal and other branding assets in 2014. Joanna and co-founder Kirkland Tibbels first revealed the seal at the 2014 Annual Member Conference.
We chose a seal because it has been used historically as the traditional stamp for diplomas of outstanding universities and colleges. It instantly produces and honors the identity and authority of a scholarly institution.
The seal is a culmination of symbols with the following intended meanings:
- The seal is a shield within a sphere. The sphere represents the transaction cycle, ecology, and the ‘whole environment’.
- The shield gives homage to a traditional ‘coat of arms’ with the top of the shield as a roof top symbolizing ‘house’ – a standard human environment.
- The circles within the shield hold symbols and Latin words for “Biological”, “Linguistic”, and “Transactional”; the fundamental background on which all our study is founded.
- The shield contains a background pattern representing molecules; a symbol of science and biology.
- The hourglass is a symbol of time; and rather than a clock, the sand timer runs out of sand – a reminder of the consequential nature of living.
- The arrows represent the six “Weapons of Influence”: reciprocity, liking, scarcity, commitment & consistency, authority, and social proof.
- The arrows cross a band of bluebonnets and lavender – the former is the Texas state flower, the home of both founders; and the latter is the flower associated with the founding office in Ojai, California – also the site of the annual global conference each January.
Garamond is only the official font in our logo. It is also the Influence Ecology font used in our letterhead. The majority of text on our public website and slides is Helvetica and Helvetic Light with while using Times New Roman for Heading 1.
